About

Hi, my name is Darcy Naunton.

After spending the last eight years building a series of startup businesses, I realised that it had been far too long since my last big adventure. I reached a natural break point after becoming comfortable that I could entrust my colleagues, cofounders and employees to carry on without me. So, I decided to pack up my life, switch gears and embark on something I had wanted to do for a long time – drive through the entirety of the Americas from North to South. This blog captures my journey and learnings of my drive from Vancouver to Patagonia.

My reasons for documenting this adventure are numerous and there are several audiences (I think) for my musings.

For my friends and family, I’d like to share my experiences and give them a window to observe and understand the journey I’m taking. I hope this is a useful way to communicate with you all.

For the travellers, I’d like to share my learnings on the road and provide insights in dealing with some of the more practical elements to my travels. Having spent countless hours researching the many practicalities of what I was to undertake, I felt like I could contribute to the body of knowledge about how to tackle the many jurisdictional, cultural and logistical challenges (of which there are countless!)

For those that I’ve met along the journey who have helped me and contributed to the planning and execution, it is a way to acknowledge you and to give my sincere thanks. Even before I’ve landed at my departure point, there are several people without which this adventure wouldn’t have happened.

And as much as for anyone else, this blog is for me. I’m creating an account of something important and exciting in my life that I’ll be able to relive after the years have passed.

Wish me luck, thank you and to those I am yet to meet on my travels, I look forward to sharing my adventure with you

Darcy
