Hi.

Welcome to my blog. A record of my my adventure driving from Anchorage to Patagonia and beyond

Alaska to Ushuaia Time-Lapse

Alaska to Ushuaia Time-Lapse

From the very beginning of the trip, I would gather time lapse footage from the dash on the GoPro thinking how interesting it was to weave my way through so many different climates and landscapes as I passed by snowfields, deserts, coastlines, mountains, jungles, salt flats and everything in between. Where possible, I’d take footage from above from the drone - often solo and trying to drive the car and fly the drone simultaneously. And, of course, the camera was out at every opportunity.

So it was firmly in my mind that when I had the time, I would turn this video footage and mix of stills into a video sequence that captured the journey from the top of North America to the bottom of South America. The issue was that I never had any time nor the first clue about video editing. Eventually I found the headspace within the weird year that is/was 2020 as well as the motivation to teach myself video editing from scratch.

The end result is quite long and therefore unlikely to hold most people’s attention. The audiences for which it was created were primarily myself as a memento and synopsis of the trip; secondarily, it stood to reason that segments of it would be interesting to the handful of family and friends that shared part of the voyage as passengers. But perhaps there are some people out there - any readers of this blog for instance - for which it may hold some interest. And for that reason, I post my first ever attempt at creating a video:

The video was put together using Adobe Premiere Pro. Music sourced from Artlist. With a very limited number of exceptions, the footage and images are my own. Equipment: GoPro Hero 5 Black, DJI Mavic drone, iPhone 10 & 11 Pro models and Canon 5D MkIII DSLR.
